Torrance, CA – November 30, 2006 – TRENDnet,
a best-in-class manufacturer of wired and wireless networking solutions today announced that it has received multiple awards for its Wireless N-Draft Router (TEW-631BRP) from some of the world’s top computer magazines. Since its debut in September, the TEW-631BRP has won awards over major competitors based on throughput, long range capability and price value. Some of the reviewing magazines include Germany’s PC Professionell and PC Magazine, INFO magazine in Brazil, and a review from media company CNET networks.
The TEW-631BRP is based on the IEEE 1.0 Draft 802.11n specification, predecessor to the much anticipated 802.11n standard. In its first ever review conducted by ZDnet.com, CNET’s leading online editorial site for IT professionals, TRENDnet’s Wireless N router received an Editor’s Very Good 7.1 out 10 rating. In its tests, which included comparisons to models from Netgear, Linksys, and D-Link, TRENDnet’s router bested the competition on short range maximum throughput and long range capability. Equipped with Atheros’ XSPAN™ chipset technology, the TEW-631BRP delivers advanced speed and range enhancements designed to support the growing multimedia needs of digital homes and workplaces. The router was also complimented for its wide range of wireless security options from WEP, WPA, and WPA2 password protection.
The router has received international acclaim as well with awards from PC Professionell and PC Magazine, Germany’s leading industry and end user publications. In PC Professionell’s Draft N roundup, the TEW-631BRP earned the highest rating in the single test category and was awarded first place on its Best of List. Useful in both home and business networks, the router incorporates a wireless on/off switch and an access control function that can block certain types of applications such as P2P websites and games, or even designate access to the web based on particular days and times.
TRENDnet’s Wireless N router has also been praised for its Quality of Service support by PC Magazine Germany. The TEW-631BRP features Ubicom’s StreamEngine technology which enables users to prioritize traffic, delivering streaming applications such as VoIP calls, games, and HD Video with impeccable clarity. In its December 2006 issue, PC Magazine recommended the TEW-631BRP as its Buying Tip and awarded it Best Price for Performance over D-Link, Netgear and Buffalo offerings.
“It’s great to see our products recognized for its performance and value, especially on our N-Draft line,” stated Pei Huang, president of TRENDnet. “This lets our customers know that they can rely on us to supply their wireless home and business networks with the latest in networking innovations while delivering efficient and yet affordable devices.”
The Wireless N Product Family includes the following products and average selling prices for the U.S. only: TEW-631BRP Router - $129.99 (USD); TEW-630APB Access Point - $149.99 (USD); TEW-621PC PC Card - $99.99; and the TEW-623PI PCI Adapter - $99.99 (USD).
