TORRANCE, CA - December 7, 2001 — TRENDnet's products are the main networking solutions for many networking projects around the world. Although industries such as Government Army and Air Forces, Banks, Phone Companies, and not to mention big companies such as IBM, Lotus, Intel, and 3Com, all use TRENDnet products, TRENDnet stands at the forefront in education by being the provider in network communications for many schools and universities. Canada
In an agreement between the government and the Reseau Interordinateurs Scientifique Quebecois, Quebec's universities and CEGEPs will soon be linked by 3000-kilometer-long fiber optic network from TRENDnet that will enable them to work together online on researching and teaching. The network will allow post-secondary institutions to transmit images, work on complex math models, have access to the best libraries, and become virtual laboratories.

This 56 million Canadian dollar network will link 18 universities and 48 CEGEB in Quebec. It is said to be the most unique project in North America. It will be valuable to students and teaching, allowing computers to talk to one another for research and for universities to share very expensive resources.

The network will consist of backbone routers from Cisco and SNMP switches and fiber converters from TRENDnet. TRENDnet's single mode fiber converters in 15Km and 60Km (TFC-100S15 and TFC-100S60) along with TRENDnet's TFC-1600 chassis series with SNMP module and redundant power supplies will be the main fiber network for the schools.

Colombia
Many schools cannot afford computers. A project in Colombia called "Computadores para Educa" (Computers to Educate), was created by Colombia's First Lady Nohra Puyana de Pastranato, to increase the number of computers in the schools of Colombia. Many companies from the country donated their old computers to this program. The computers were then repaired and upgraded to good conditions for the school's use. The computers needed many things such as video adapters, sound cards, LAN cards, etc. TRENDnet was the major supplier for LAN adapters. Over 10,000 Cards were used and plans for more cards are needed in January.

Mexico
The committee of Education Facilities for the State of Chiapas in Mexico recently purchased TRENDnet PC Cameras to improve and modernize the education infrastructure. These cameras will be installed and used for videoconferences between several schools and supervisors. Supervisors and school officials will communicate with each other in real time with TRENDnet's PC Cameras. This project will consist of connecting more then 748 offices in the state of Chiapas, with 33 in the city of Tuxtla Gutierrez.

China
In the northeast part of China, in a province called Shenyang, TRENDnet's TE100-S24plus switches were used in a project, "Computer Education," to network over 800 schools within the province. Over 1000 24-port switches were needed to set up computer labs in each school. TRENDnet was chosen over many other competitors for their product performance, reliability, and price.
