TRENDnet’s TEG-S2500i Stackable SNMP Switch Provides SMBs with Plenty of Options

Torrance, CA August 9, 2004 TRENDnet, a leading manufacturer of networking products worldwide, today announced the arrival of its TEG-S2500i stackable SNMP Switch. The new switch targets the SMB sector and provides connectivity features such as 24 x 10/100Mbps LAN ports and a modular slot for an optional Gigabit module.

Like its predecessor, the TEG-S2400i, the TEG-S2500i provides SNMP support, QoS, VLAN, Spanning Tree, and other high-end features – but adds to that list support for stacking. Stacking enables users to link multiple units of the TEG-S2500i together to provide SNMP management for the entire stack. SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) allows Network administrators to easily and comprehensively monitor connection status.

Stacking the TEG-S2500i will require TRENDnet’s 2-port Gigabit modules to provide a high-bandwidth Gigabit backbone. Users will be most likely to opt for TRENDnet’s TEG-S24M2C 2-port Copper Gigabit Module, which provides fast and reliable connectivity to servers and stacked switches. Another option is for users to implement TRENDnet’s TEG-S24M11GF module, which features 1 Copper Gigabit port and 1 GBIC port. The GBIC port allows users to take advantage of fiber optic’s high fidelity to create a long-distance connection capable of spanning several kilometers.

A feature of the TEG-S2500i that is expected to simplify stack management is single IP management. Using any web browser on any workstation connected to the stack, a network administrator will be able to configure management options and monitor the connection status of any port(s) on the stack. The TEG-S2500i supports a stack size of up to 8 switches, making it ideal for SMBs with stringent network-management needs.

TRENDnet’s TEG-S2500i is available now at $550 MSRP. For more information on TRENDnet’s SNMP Stackable Switch or to find out more information about TRENDnet, please visit www.trendnet.com.
