Store-and-forward Switching is a method in which the Switch will wait until an entire packet is received before forwarding to the destination. The Switch will use its internal memory to store the packet while it then checks the destinations address, source address, and CRC to ensure there are no errors.
Cut-through Switching will begin to forward the frame as soon as the destination address is identified. The problem with this method is the Switch only looks at the destination address and does not check for corruption so it may send a corrupted file. With numerous bad frames being sent this can cause the performance to drop from the devices on the network do to broadcast storms being formed from the bad frames.
